|DILG 10 holds Orientation for Barangay Tanods of 2nd District, CDOC on DRRM-CCA|
Last November 16, 2012, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) -10 and Local Government Academy (LGA), in partnership with the Office of the 2nd Congressional District Representative Cagayan de Oro City-House of Representatives and in coordination with the City Government of Cagayan de Oro City conducted an Orientation on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Climate Change Adaptation (DRRM/CCA) for Barangay Tanods of the 2nd District in Cagayan de Oro City at Grand Caprice Restaurant, Limketkai Drive, Cagayan de Oro City.
DILG-10 Regional Director Rene K. Burdeos said that the activity aims to orient barangay tanods on their duties and functions and provide them with adequate information on disaster preparedness training especially in rescue operations as the first responders in their barangays.
The gathering of barangay tanods highlighted the distribution of kits that include sweat shirts, certificates and ball caps for 950 barangay tanods from the 56 barangays of the said district in the City.
Resource speakers discussed topics such as Impacts of Climate Change, Understanding Nature and Behavior of Climate Induced Hazards, Mitigating/Preparedness Measures instituted by national/local governments, Role of Tanods in DRRM/CCA and Doís and Doníts in Rescue Operations, and Basic Life Support. The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the DILG will gave inputs on the Role of Barangay Tanods in Crime Prevention, Local Ordinance affecting barangay tanod, and the Functions, Duties and Responsibilities of barangay tanods. Some of the Punong Barangays of the 2nd district attended the said activity. ###
